After a few weeks of habitually disregarding the cereal collection in our lazy Susan, we were completely in the zone; we had expanded our repertoire, eating a lot of different things. I love watching a good TikTok hack, but it’s rare that I ever follow through in my own kitchen. Some exceptions: baked feta pasta (though now I love Kelli’s baked feta broccoli even more), feta fried eggs, and this odd, but surprisingly helpful, ketchup bottle hack my husband sent me. Essentially, you clean out a ketchup bottle and fill it with oil to use while cooking. If you’re thinking, huh or why? That was me, too.

Anyone who has cooked a big holiday meal or celebratory feast knows that the aftermath can be daunting. When I first tested these almond croissant cookie bars, I knew right away they were a keeper. Now that it’s officially fall, we’re not surprised to hear there’s a new cake on shelves. After seeing lots of buzz about Costco’s Mocha Crunch Bar Cake, we knew that we had to try it — no matter what it took.

I’m a convert.

I love a good red sauce, and I’m not picky about it — it can be a simple marinara or a slow-cooked ragù. I’ve cooked tomato sauce many different ways, and often will forgo a recipe altogether in favor of using the spices, herbs, and aromatics I have on hand to build a good sauce. The one thing I always add at the end, though — no matter what else has gone into the pot — is a bit of butter.
