After a few weeks of habitually disregarding the cereal collection in our lazy Susan, we were completely in the zone; we had expanded our repertoire, eating a lot of different things. I hadn’t bought a box of cereal in at least three weeks, and although I did not experience the revolt I was sensing in my previous post, I did occasionally get some questions in the morning as to whether or not we’re “still not eating cereal.

I love watching a good TikTok hack, but it’s rare that I ever follow through in my own kitchen. Some exceptions: baked feta pasta (though now I love Kelli’s baked feta broccoli even more), feta fried eggs, and this odd, but surprisingly helpful, ketchup bottle hack my husband sent me. Essentially, you clean out a ketchup bottle and fill it with oil to use while cooking. If you’re thinking, huh or why? That was me, too.

Anyone who has cooked a big holiday meal or celebratory feast knows that the aftermath can be daunting. No one wants to be wasteful and toss it all, but when faced with a myriad of bowls, pots, and platters of leftovers, some cooled down and some still hot, it can be hard to navigate not just the best way to tackle it all, but the safest. Even dinner leftovers can be confusing. Should you let them cool to room temperature before refrigerating or stick them in right away?

When I first tested these almond croissant cookie bars, I knew right away they were a keeper. I love almond croissants (especially the rich, nutty frangipane filling), and this recipe captures all of that flavor in bar form. Layered with a homemade almond filling and topped with sliced almonds and powdered sugar, these bars are soft and chewy just like blondies. I’ve already made them twice since testing the recipe, and everyone I’ve shared them with keeps asking for more.
