Ali Domrongchai, a Southern-raised, Brooklyn-based food writer, grew up around her family's Thai restaurant that sparked her initial love for food. (Fun fact: her grandparents briefly ran a Thai grocery store in the 70s). In this space, her curiosity on the role that food plays…read more

There are two things that I love: Oreo cookies and cinnamon buns. (Well, to be clear, I love a lot of things.) I’ve been an Oreo fan for as long as I can remember, and I routinely make gooey cinnamon buns on slow weekend mornings. So when I heard that Oreo was bringing back its Cinnamon Bun Cookies after nearly a decade, I knew I just needed to get my hands on some.

The return feels especially nostalgic for me. When I first tried them back in high school, I thought they were amazing, which made it all the more disappointing when I could no longer find them at my local grocer. Holding the shiny blue-and-cream-colored pack immediately brought that memory back — and made me curious (and excited!) to see if the cookies were just as good as I remembered. Here’s how they stack up.

Oreo’s Cinnamon Bun Cookies Return to Stores After Nearly a Decade

Unfortunately, the Oreo Cinnamon Bun Cookies are a limited release. The cookie itself is sold in the brand’s iconic sleeve and features cinnamon-flavored cookies sandwiched around a cinnamon bun-flavored creme (double cinnamon, sign me up!).

You can find them in retailers nationwide, including Walmart and Target, starting July 6 for around $4.99 and Amazon for $5.79. If you can’t wait until then, the brand is also selling two-packs for $10 on its website ahead of the launch.

My Honest Review of Oreo Cinnamon Bun Cookies

I’ve always been a sucker for anything flavored with cinnamon, so I went into these hoping for the best. (My expectations were also pretty high because I’ve had and liked this Oreo before). Thankfully, they deliver in a major way.

As soon as I got my package I tore straight in and took a big bite. Delicious! The cinnamon cookie has a warm, actually potent cinnamon flavor that isn’t overpowering while still giving that spiced aftertaste. The cinnamon bun creme adds a sweet, icing-like finish that ties everything together.

The combination genuinely reminds me of biting into a freshly baked cinnamon roll — just in crunchy cookie form. This is an easy recommendation, and I’ll be absolutely getting another pack. I’m not waiting around, either. They’re so good, I imagine they won’t stay on shelves for long.
