Over the years we’ve found many favorites at IKEA, from toy storage solutions and nursery decor to activity tables, high chairs, bookcases and baby ball pits — and all at prices we can live with.

If you’re lucky enough to live near an IKEA (and there are only 53 in the U.S.!), then you’re probably also familiar with their “as-is” section, which offers additional savings on items that have been discontinued, returned, or damaged.

Previously, if you wanted to catch an as-is deal, you needed to get to the store in-person before everything was picked over, with Monday being the consensus on the best day to shop the as-is section. But last week, IKEA launched an online as-is section tailored to your local store’s offerings. Now, for the first time ever, IKEA Family members can shop and reserve as-is items from the comfort of your couch!

Here’s how it works.

  • Head to IKEA’s as-is section on the website.
  • Make sure you’re signed up for IKEA Family and logged in.
  • Choose your closest IKEA store.
  • See what’s available and reserve it for up to 48 hours!

Every store has different offerings, and the list of what’s available changes frequently. The product listings show both the original price and the as-is price. A quick perusal of my local store’s offerings shows prices cut by about 50 percent! Do note that as-is products are excluded from IKEA’s return policy but may be eligible for IKEA’s Buy Back & Resell service.

As-is online is a key part of IKEA’s sustainability efforts. Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA U.S., says this in the press release: “This Earth Month marks an exciting time for IKEA U.S. as we continue to make sustainable attainable for the many people. As-is online joins our other services like Buy Back & Resell and the spare parts program that help our customers live a more sustainable life at home with a variety of ways to prolong the life of their furniture.”

Oh, and mark your calendars: On April 22 and 23, you can get an additional 25% off all as-is items!
