The Budget-Friendly Way Rupert Grint Hacked a Play Target Store for His Daughter
Rupert Grint — the actor who plays Ron in the Harry Potter movies, just in case you don’t know — has a 2-year-old daughter, and she is apparently obsessed with Target. “She’d choose [going to Target] over going to the park, the zoo,” he told Jimmy Fallon recently when he was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
In any other circumstance, this would just be a funny anecdote and a surefire Saturday afternoon outing. But Grint and his daughter recently moved back to the U.K., where there are no Targets. So he made her a mini play store Target she could play with at home! Check out the video below for a photo.
Eagle-eyed parents of preschoolers may notice that Grint appears to have started with the Fresh Mart Grocery Store from Melissa & Doug. (Disclaimer: We have not confirmed this, but we’re willing to put money on it.)
It looks like he painted parts of it in a spot-on shade of Target red, then added some signature Target signage and gift cards (ha, so good). The end result is undeniably a Target checkout station, which makes this one of our Top Toy Hacks of the year so far. We just may have to do the same.
