Nugget Just Dropped an All-New Kid Chair That Is Going to Change Everything (We Tried It!)
When it comes to kids’ furniture, I love finds that blend fun and functionality. That’s a big reason why my family has loved Nugget’s modular play furniture for five years and counting. So, it’s especially exciting that Nugget launched the Smore, a cozy chair that’s sturdy enough for a reading nook and beyond durable for playtime. The brand sent me one to test drive with my nieces and nephew, and it was barely out of the box before the kids totally took it over.

Nugget Smore Design Features That Stand Out
The Smore combines modern style with a “playwithable” design that keeps kids engaged whether they’re deciding on the perfect configuration for lounging or building a tunnel for hide-and-seek. Like the Chunk Play Ottoman and Nugget Play Couch, the Smore is made up of modular foam segments that together create the chair, but what sets it apart is that its pieces are light enough for kids to move around the room (or from room to room) with little to no help.
By simply rearranging the pieces, the Smore’s seat height can be adjusted to accommodate toddlers and school-age children. Its significantly smaller footprint (compared to its predecessors) also makes it a notable fit for bedrooms, reading corners, and tighter spaces. The Smore release introduces Denim, an all-new fabric to the brand, and it’s the first of Nugget’s products that you can personalize with custom embroidery.
How It Performed
I’ve seen Nugget’s evolution from the beloved orange couch to the releases of the Chunk ottoman and limited edition Mini Nugget, and one thing I’ve quickly learned is that it’s furniture kids actually love, too. The Smore is no different. When the chair arrives, it’s already wrapped in a cover of your choosing (I picked Surfside), so all you have to do is give the foam time to fully expand, which takes roughly a day — but don’t be surprised if your kids want to enjoy it sooner. Not long after it’s unboxing, and well before 24 hours, my 2-year-old nephew gleefully plopped onto the Smore to finish snacking on a chocolate chip cookie!
What’s most impressive about this modular chair is that it’s designed to accommodate your child’s growth, thanks to its easily adjustable seat. My nieces and nephew range in age from 2 to 9, and all four kids can sit comfortably in the Smore when they aren’t rearranging the pieces to create a house, bridge, a stage for their toys, and anything else they dream up.
What we love
- It encourages creativity: Nugget furniture in itself is an instrument of imagination, so the Smore can be used to build a variety of structures for kids and their favorite toys.
- It accommodates a wide age range: The seat can be adjusted higher or lower, making it suitable for toddlers and up.
- Its soft and durable construction: The Smore feels like it belongs in a playroom, but it’s a stylish and functional piece that can also elevate the look of your child’s bedroom, reading nook, or study space.
Good to know
- If you’re having trouble selecting a color or material for your Smore, Nugget, and/or Chunk, fabric swatches are available for $10
- Nugget also has a small library of builds that you can use to inspire your family’s play furniture creations.
Should You Buy the Nugget Smore?
While I’m a big fan off all of Nugget’s furniture, I’d specifically recommend the Smore to anyone looking for:
- A space-saving piece of Nugget’s play furniture
- A comfy chair with an adjustable height for multiple children or growth spurts
- A cozy kids’ chair for reading, studying, playing, and more
