Over the years, Nugget has become a staple in my family. My nieces have had one for nearly all of their lives, and got a Chunk ottoman in their playroom last year. I’d never seen them excited about furniture that wasn’t their beds, but the Nugget was a totally different story! So when the brand brought back its Mini Nugget just in time for holiday gifting last year, they sent one for my nieces to try before they all sold out.

What Is the Mini Nugget?

The Mini Nugget is exactly what it sounds like: It’s a miniature version of the best-selling Nugget play couch. It’s available in four of the brand’s most popular colors — Moonshot, Lolly, Lemonade, and Paintbox — and features all four foam-filled pieces that come with the real thing. The Mini Nugget measures approximately 19.25”x9.75”x6.75” and comes wrapped in its signature fabric, so the only task you have to worry about is unboxing it. And yes, the tiny play couch comes in its own “big” orange box that makes it instantly recognizable.

Whether or not you have a Nugget at home, the Mini Nugget stands out on its own. The pieces can be used to create a sofa for dolls and plushies, an obstacle course for action figures, or even a series of ramps for little race cars. Kids can even build mini forts and other platforms to put their toys on display and play pretend. Plus, if you do have a Nugget or Chunk, the Mini Nugget makes a great companion piece for creative playtime. Cleaning is also a breeze: The covers for the Mini Nugget are machine washable, and the foam cores should be spot cleaned as quickly as possible with a mixture of Dawn liquid detergent and warm water. (Both the covers and foam should be air-dried, and be sure to keep the foam out of direct sunlight.)

Why I Love the Mini Nugget

As someone who’s actually put a Nugget play couch together, I immediately loved that the Mini Nugget was already assembled upon arrival. It’s also small enough to be conveniently portable and fits inside a carry-on. Play-wise, the Mini Nugget has been a hit! Sure, the kids can’t climb the structures they make or hide out in the forts they build, but it isn’t a problem. In fact, the Mini Nugget unlocked so many more imaginative opportunities with their favorite dolls and other toys.

So far, tiny houses, scaled-down slides, and mini gymnastics “equipment” have been my nieces’ favorite creations, but race car ramps aren’t far behind. I’m looking forward to seeing what else they’re going to make with them, especially the configurations I don’t expect! If that’s not a win, I don’t know what is. The Mini Nugget is only available through January 5 while supplies last, and they’ve sold out every year, so be sure to grab early if you can!
