Our Most Popular Dinner Recipe of 2025 Will Win Over Your Entire Family (“Absolutely Delicious”)
I still remember the frequent complaint one of my childhood friends used to recite: “Ugh, we’re having chicken for dinner again.” Now that I’m cooking more, I finally get the boredom my friend was feeling (even if she wasn’t the one making dinner). It’s easy to get tired of the protein if you’re eating it the same way all the time, and figuring out fun new ways to cook it can feel daunting.
That’s where this recipe — our most saved chicken recipe of 2025! — comes in. It’s a simple one-pan chicken, but with two bright and flavorful ingredients that make a huge difference. I’m sure if my friend had this recipe in her family’s lineup when she was growing up, she would be a little more excited for chicken night.

What Makes One-Pan Lemon-Dill Chicken So Good
This 30-minute chicken is easy, juicy, and so flavorful. The chicken thighs finish cooking in a buttery, lemony sauce, which makes them extra flavorful. And there definitely won’t be any allegations of dryness here: The sauce is also a star in its own right. How could things ever go wrong with lemon, garlic, butter, and dill? I love that you make it in the same pan you seared your chicken in, so you can also scrape up any of those browned bits for maximum flavor. It’s just like our Culinary Producer Kelli Foster, who developed this recipe, said: “You’ll want to eat this lemon-dill sauce on everything.”
How to Make One-Pan Lemon-Dill Chicken
The recipe only takes about 30 minutes to whip up, and it’s basically just three steps: sear, simmer, wait.
Pat dry your chicken and then brown it in a pan with some olive oil. After the thighs have some color on them, remove them from the pan. You’ll then add some butter and cook the garlic until fragrant before stirring in a bit of flour. (The flour will help thicken the sauce slightly.) Stir in broth (chicken or veggie), lemon juice, and chopped dill into the pan and bring that to a simmer.
Add the chicken back into the pan, allowing the thighs to fully cook through. Remove from heat, add in some freshly chopped dill, and enjoy.
Tips for Making One-Pan Lemon-Dill Chicken
- Make sure to get some color on your chicken. Searing your chicken before letting it simmer in the sauce is essential for adding deeper flavor and more texture to your thighs. The more color you get on your chicken, the more fond will be left in the pan that’ll be incorporated into your broth later.
- Serve with sides that’ll soak up the sauce. The sauce is our favorite part. To make the most of all 30 minutes of your labor, we recommend serving with steamed rice or roasted broccoli so you can soak up every last drop of it.
