M&M’s Limited-Edition Flavor Is Flying Off Shelves (We’ve Already Gone Through 3 Bags!)
In my family, the holidays are synonymous with candy. There’s always an array of festive chocolates to sample, like jingle-bell-shaped Crunch and bowls of aptly named Holiday Blend M&M’s. (I save some of the red and green candies for Christmas cowboy cookies.)
This year, I might be adding a new M&M’s flavor to the party. Holiday Mint is a returning fan-favorite and has garnered a huge following on Reddit. One person commented: “I’ve already gone through three bags,” and another stated that “Mint M&M is a top 1 M&M.” A true devotee even wrote “We wait all year for these M&Ms!” on the brand’s website.
Having never tried them myself, I decided to see what all the buzz was about and picked up a bag from my local grocery store. After just one handful, I can easily see why people wait months for these little gems to return.
What You Should Know About M&M’s Holiday Mint
The popular seasonal drop originally made its debut years ago and is back once again for the holidays. Like many December items, the Holiday Mint M&Ms take the brand’s classic milk chocolate and infuse it with peppermint (the pumpkin spice of winter). To dial up the merriment even more, the candies come in a variety of red, light- and dark green-colored coatings.
My Honest Review of M&M’s Holiday Mint
As soon as I opened the bag, I was hit with a wave of peppermint. It reminded me of the Andes mints I ate at my grandma’s house. If the scent wasn’t the first hint, visually you can also tell these aren’t your standard M&Ms. They are much larger in size, somewhere in between the OGs and the peanut ones.
I popped one in my mouth and broke through the coating to reveal milk chocolate with a prominent peppermint flavor that left a cooling effect in the mouth. Since it was thick, I thought maybe it had a minty filling or layer, but it’s just solid chocolate all the way through. Still, it’s delicious and perfect for the season.
I love how festive they looked in the bowl, and they’d totally be a hit with the peppermint bark crowd this time of year. I also see them being delicious baked into a double chocolate cookie or fudgy brownie mix. I’ll definitely be picking up another bag or two next time I head to the store.
