The “Brag Board” Is the Brilliant Solution to a Fridge Covered in Kid Art and School Forms
If you’re like me, your refrigerator doubles as an art gallery. I’ve got a pileup of photos and school certificates, plus a constantly growing assortment of my daughter’s latest artistic creations on there. Like a lot of kids, my daughter is always making more art — and I end up playing artwork Jenga with my fridge. So when I learned about brag boards (and saw how easy they are to make), the DIY crafter in me got excited.
Brag boards are exactly what they sound like: bulletin boards that you use to highlight kids’ accomplishments, latest artwork, and photos. You can get crafty with it and make one completely from scratch, or buy a bulletin board and decorate it. You can pick a compact size for smaller spaces, or something larger if your walls allow for it.
I loved how Instagrammer Elizabeth Homen (@elizabethhomen) created this red-and-pink, scalloped brag board with just a little bit of spray paint, fabric, and felt crafting supplies. Even if you’re not great with tools, her fairly goof-proof method is a simple one — it uses crafting and wood glue, and a staple gun. You can start with a cork board or plywood base and wrap it in fabric, securing the back with a staple gun. Then get creative by adding ribbon, trim, or a pop of paint.
If you’re not sure that a “made from scratch” brag board is your speed, you can still pick up a stylish bulletin board and then easily decorate it yourself. Here are a few options that won’t break the bank.
Whichever one you choose, consider it a promotion: from refrigerator chaos to a curated gallery for your budding artist.
