When it’s way too hot out, I tend to stick with light and refreshing eats, whether it’s a summery salad or a frosty Popsicle. One recipe that I bookmark every summer? This frozen hot chocolate. I break out the creamy, chocolate-laden frozen drink whenever I need to cool off. It’s so good that my kids offer to make it when they see me pulling out the ingredients. Even better, it comes together in just five minutes and makes enough to serve our family of four.

What Makes Frozen Hot Chocolate So Good

First, you only need three ingredients to make a frozen hot chocolate. As long as you have chocolate milk, powdered hot cocoa mix, and copious amounts of ice, you’re set. Just blend the ingredients until completely smooth, and you’re done! While the recipe calls for whipped cream and chocolate shavings or sprinkles, which are entirely optional, I often skip them because it’s decadent enough without.

The result is a frosty treat that’s a dream for any chocolate-lover. The recipe smartly calls for chocolate milk rather than regular milk to really drive home the chocolate flavor. It’s reminiscent of a chocolate milkshake, but one that isn’t quite as thick (you can actually sip it through a straw!). And if you’re a fan of Wendy’s Chocolate Frosty like me, you’ll definitely love this.
