Estate sales, yard sales, and antique shops were regular weekend destinations for my brother and me as kids. My parents, always on the hunt for period-appropriate decor for our Staten Island 19th-century house, made sure of it. Since then, I’ve had a love for home design and…read more

Many of my most cherished home movies stretch on for hours. Throughout the ’90s, my dad would haul a massive video recorder to every family gathering, capturing conversations, all the silly dances my cousins and I performed, and so much more. However, the moments that resonate most are the quieter, in-between scenes I often forget — like the particular way my grandma stirred her huge pot of tomato sauce or how my little brother would skip everywhere.

Now that I record family moments on my phone, I’m always worried about my phone’s storage (and videos generally aren’t more than a minute long). However, the retro-inspired Camp Snap CS-8 Video Camera has changed the way I document these events. It’s digital with no playback screen and feels refreshingly distraction-free. The brand sent me a camera to try out, and now I recommend it to all my parent friends. The downside? It keeps selling out. Luckily, a limited batch is now available, so order now!

What Is the Camp Snap CS-8 Video Camera?

Inspired by the Super 8 camera of the ’70s, the Camp Snap CS-8 is a digital video camera designed for easy, screen-free recording. To start shooting, simply pull the trigger. The camera captures both video and audio, and charging is easy with the included USB-C cord, providing about 45 minutes of footage on a full charge. However, the included 4GB SD card holds approximately 30 minutes of footage, so you might want extra cards handy for longer events (the camera is compatible with all cards up to 128GB).

The Camp Snap CS-8 offers simple yet fun customization with five filters (standard, two vintage options, black and white, and textured) and four aspect ratios: 9:16 for reels, 16:9 for widescreen, 1:1 for social media, and 4:3 for a classic home movie feel. Although it lacks a screen, the camera features buttons for zooming in and out, and a charming analog meter displays the remaining battery life and memory. When you’re ready to view your footage, just plug the camera into your computer or smartphone (so handy!) to download it.

Why I Love the Camp Snap CS-8 Video Camera

The Camp Snap CS-8‘s screen-free design is a standout feature for me. When I use it at family events, I’m fully present, focusing on intentionally capturing each moment. This process encourages me to slow down and truly savor every second. I find myself narrating the action, much like my father once did, while also making sure to capture the surrounding scenery and small details.

Best of all, the camera just feels really cool. Its retro design is comfortable to hold, and it instantly sparks conversation whenever I use it. While the 2.7K resolution is only mid-range, it actually enhances the resulting footage’s vintage aesthetic (which I love).

The Camp Snap CS-8 is a novelty gadget that has become a staple at all my family gatherings. Every mom who sees it instantly says, “Oh, I want that!” It’s been selling out fast, so if you’re interested you should grab this limited-stock item now!
