Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I am an engineer by trade but an artist by heart. I absolutely love designing and creating art, whether it’s painting, crafts, DIY, or upcycling. I am a big fan of secondhand as it’s always grand and brings warmth to a home, in my opinion. Regarding color — I really love a dark, bold, moody color palette, especially living in a period house. It draws me to express the dark artistic side of me.
We bought our 1905 period home in Dublin City, Ireland. When we walked into the first viewing, I could immediately envision our family here: children running around, family gatherings, etc. It felt like home. We have done a lot already considering we only moved in July 2021. There’s still a long way to go, but it is a beautiful house filled with character.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Moody, Period, Warm, Cozy, Character
What is your favorite room and why? Well, up until recently our son’s room was my favorite because it was the only room actually finished. But currently, it’s our living room. Although it’s not complete yet, a huge improvement was made, and it feels so good and inviting!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I found two framed original pieces in a charity shop.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Follow your heart, express your creative side, and don’t hold back. You can always change it if you aren’t sure (as long as it’s not structural because that costs a lot of money).
