This Is the Best Kids’ Water Bottle, Hands Down

Oh, if I had a nickel for every time a kids’ water bottle did not live up to its claims. Easy to clean? Sure, except for the part under the lid that never gets dry and grows mold. Unbreakable? Absolutely, as long as you never drop it. Leak-proof? You bet, so long as you keep it upright at all times.

Which is why, after many leaky trials over the years, I can say with the confidence of a parent who feels like she really nailed it this time that the Thermos Funtainer insulated straw bottle is the best kids’ water bottle. Ever. Full stop.

My kids have each had their own Thermos Funtainer for a couple years now, and I have yet to find something wrong with them. The 12-ounce insulated bottles are made of 18/8 stainless steel, and really do keep drinks cold for hours. The covered silicone straw is neatly hidden behind a push-button lid, so it stays clean. (And speaking of that push-button lid, that’s also great because it enables little kids to easily open their own water bottle with just the bush of a button, no screwing and unscrewing of lids needed.)

When it comes to cleaning, the whole top comes apart so you can clean it completely (I use a straw cleaner to really get down in there), and —AND! — the bottle does not leak if it’s snapped tight. I have filled it to the brim and held it on its side for 30 seconds, unblinking eyes trained on the lid to catch the tiniest drop of water seeping out, and … nothing! Here, kids! Go ahead and throw this around your backpack at your leisure!
