Squishmallows Building Sets - 246pc
Credit: BLDR

Our kids love Squishmallows, we love Squishmallows — the issue, of course, is storage and trying to tame the crowd of plush that can quickly overwhelm your kid’s room. It honestly feels like two Squishmallows are good company, but by the time you’re up to three, you’ve got a crowd. And lots of kids have more than three!

The people behind the Squishmallows brand have come up with other ways for kids to play with the cute characters that do not involve more stuffed friends. The best is the new Squishmallows BLDR line for ages 8+. It’s a brick-building system, sold in small, 6- to-9-inch sets for now. Each includes a SquishBrik character with an adorably soft and squishable tummy.

BLDR is “compatible with all major construction brands,” which is a roundabout way of saying, “These work with LEGOs.” These are the first five sets, out now.

BLDR Squishmallows Outdoor Adventure Club
$20

My favorite is this camping scene — mostly because I love Cam the Calico Cat and Benny the Bigfoot, and it’s so cute that they’re making s’mores together and stargazing. The brick campfire is wonderful, too.

Squishmallows Squish Tour Concert
$30

This is the largest of the Squishmallows BLDR sets. It has three characters — Emily the Bat on drums, Gordon the Shark on guitar, and Jarik the Dragon singing. The pretend pyrotechnics are pretty fierce!

BLDR Squishmallows Sunny’s Park Life Building
$10

On the tamer side, this pretty set includes a pink, flowering tree for Sunny the Bee to enjoy, along with a little park bench.

BLDR Squishmallows Patty’s Farmer Market Building
$10

Patty the Pink Cow runs this farmers market stand, selling corn, carrots, and strawberry preserves.

BLDR Squishmallows Avery’s Ball Game Buidling
$10

Avery the Mallard is selling hot dogs while, apparently, the food squad plays the sea life squad at a game of baseball. I love the baseball brick!

More sets will be coming. In the meantime, if you have a Squishmallows lover younger than 8, here are a couple of toys for them.

Squishmallows Ultimate Slime Mix-Ins
$15

It’s sensory slime with a Squishmallows twist, for kids ages 6 and up. Two character charms can be mixed into any of the slime (there are 10 small tubs of it) and there are eight different sensory mix-ins too, including glitter and foam balls. This is a messy toy, so set your child up with a cookie sheet or something similar that can contain the substances!

Squishmallows 3.5” Plush Keychain
$8

Having something dangling from your backpack is cool, even for kids in Kindergarten or first grade (in fact, maybe especially for them). Claire’s has plush keychains in lots of Squishmallows characters. If you order online, whichever one arrives will be a surprise, or you can go to the store to have your kid pick one out.
