I Just Discovered a Brilliant Technique For Packing Kid Snacks, and It’s Been a Game-Changer
I love being able to make healthy snacks for my kids ahead of when I need them. That way, I can make sure that the snacks are at least somewhat healthful, like including some kind of protein and veggie.
So recently, when I came across this snack packing tip I’ve seen all over Instagram lately, I was totally on board. It’s so simple – assemble snacks all at once in a bunch of identical snack containers – but it’s exactly the kind of thing that can make the difference between a hectic after-school hour that doesn’t really turn around and a much calmer snack time that allows for connection and sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
I will admit: it’s fun to assemble these snack containers! And it saves so much time. Some of my family’s favorite combinations are grapes and nuts, apples with peanut butter, strawberries with nuts and chocolate chips, hummus with cucumber or carrots, and crackers with Nutella. I like to make at least a couple different combinations for the week.
The snack containers can be tossed in lunch boxes or for the kids’ snack time at school, but I also use them for after-school snacks at home. Often, I will grab one for a snack at home myself! However, my favorite way to use the pre-packed snacks in these super handy containers is when I need to bring the kids a snack when we’re out and about. I can grab a stack of these, toss them in a little bag, and hand them out in the car. It makes me feel so on top of things — without having to take time out of my workday to make something.
The containers themselves are available from many different Amazon sellers, but I like this set because they are dishwasher safe (not all the sets are).
If you’d prefer stainless steel over plastic, then this set is a good option.
This new way of preparing and storing snacks has been one of those tiny tweaks with an outsized impact. And it’s all thanks to these containers!
