Can we all agree that there’s nothing worse than constantly swatting away flies or dealing with itchy, bright red welts that pop up all over your skin when all you really wanted to do was just sip on your rosé and soak in some sunshine? Which is why, as a notorious mosquito magnet, I firmly believe you can never have too many solutions on hand to keep those pesky buggers at bay. And this brings me to an exciting update: Bestselling mosquito repellent brand Thermacell just launched a ground-breaking advanced repellent system that promises to create a 20-foot (!) mosquito protection zone, so bitees like me can finally enjoy some uninterrupted outdoor time.

If Thermacell sounds familiar, that’s because Kitchn’s lifestyle director Lisa first introduced us to the brand last summer. She tried out the Patio Shield and stated it worked like “magic.” Their newest launch, priced at $39.99, is their most advanced repellent system yet.

For starters, the E55 covers 80 percent more area than previous models, which means you don’t have to snag a bunch and disperse them around your backyard. Based on the size of the area you’re looking to cover, one might be enough. Secondly, the battery charge lasts up to an incredible five and a half hours (older models tapped out at the four-hour mark), giving you more time to soak in the rays. The little gadget also comes with a scent-free refill that lasts for almost 12 hours, and you can always stay protected for even longer with a 40-hour refill that’s sold separately.

As for using the Theramcell, it’s easy! Just take the cap off, insert the repellent refill, and close the repeller. To turn it on, you just press the power button, wait for 15 minutes as the device heats the mat, and the repellent starts to work its magic. And just like with the older model, you don’t have to charge anything, plug anything in, or deal with open flames, so you can safely use this with kids around or even carry it with you on camping trips.

Despite being a relatively new launch, the E55 has already racked up a solid 4.3-star rating and hundreds of rave reviews on Amazon. While several customers have noted it does a “great job” and is “incredibly easy to use.” Many even stated one of the best things about the Thermacell is that it’s scent free and noise free, allowing them to finally soak in the “peace and quiet in nature without being eaten alive by bugs.”

So, if mosquitoes are your arch-nemeses in the warmer months, you’ll want to snag Thermacell’s E55 STAT! As for me, I’m packing mine for my upcoming road trip. And as a word of caution to all blood-sucking critters: Watch out, my repeller and I are coming!
