When you purchase something new — a shiny new kitchen tool or gear for your kids — you want to treat it with care and keep it pristine for as long as possible. There’s just one small roadblock, though: those frustrating stickers on the bottom that are often impossible to scrape off, marring your otherwise spotless new purchase!

Luckily, Martha Stewart has a hassle-free hack for getting those pesky stickers off without leaving behind any sticky residue.

Martha posted a short video to her Instagram page showing off her methods: She uses a hair dryer. Yup, that’s all you need. No more scraping away at the stickers with your fingernail; no more half-torn-off stickers spoiling otherwise beloved appliances. I’ve even tried scrubbing the stickers off with warm water and soap, but trust me, that doesn’t work either.

Martha instructs you to simply hover the hair dryer over the sticker for at least 30 seconds, letting the hot hair loosen up the adhesive. The sticker should easily peel away.

Martha also says that you can use this method on any material, from wood to glass to metal, so you don’t have to worry that you’re somehow going to damage or warp your new cookware using this method.

It’s such a simple fix that you might be annoyed you didn’t think of it yourself. That’s why Martha is here, though — to make our lives easier by passing down her vast knowledge. Now that you know, feel free to wield your hair dryer on a mission to remove the stickers from all your things.
