Dancer Isabella Boylston Transformed a Home Office into a Gorgeous Nursery (So Ballerina-Coded!)
For Isabella Boylston, principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre in New York City, dance is life — and that inspiration even extends into the most perfect nursery for her to soon-to-be-born son. The acclaimed ballet dancer, who’s still dancing at 9 months pregnant — just revealed pictures of the nursery in her home, in partnership with Nestig, that are so ballerina-coded. (She’s even wearing a tutu in the photographs.)
“Designed my dream nursery with @nestig and it’s already become my favorite room to hang out in,” the dancer shared in the Instagram post above.
What gives Isabella’s son’s nursery that theater aesthetic (ahem, besides the matching ballet shoes for him and her)? All the magical, whimsical details. Perhaps the most immediately eye-catching one is the Rolling Meadow Wall Mural, which feels almost like a backdrop on a stage. However, it just so happens that Isabella chose it more because it was reminiscent of her childhood in Idaho, explaining in an interview with Nestig that she selected it because it reminded her of the foxes she would spot in the yard growing up. The wall covering was also the first item she chose and the center of the rest of the room’s design.
Touches of Isabella’s personality can be found elsewhere in the room, too, like in the Swan Mobile, perhaps the most ballet-related piece in the space. (Isabella has performed the dual role of Odette/Odile in Swan Lake.) She told Nestig that it’s the most “Isabella” item in the room and one that she hopes her son might pass on to his own children.
There are also classic Nestig pieces in the room, like the Wave Crib (an expert-loved find) and the Briar Montessori Bookshelf in Cherry. While several colors feature in the space, there’s still a sense of tranquility and coziness. And, of course, it feels reminiscent of a ballet production.
“La Fille Mal Gardée,” Isabella said when Nestig asked her what ballet the nursery is most like. “It’s a really charming and sweet ballet that isn’t performed often in the U.S., but it’s one of my favorites.”.
What was once Isabella’s husband’s office is now the sweetest space with the loveliest ballet moments. If you want to get the look for your own nursery, you’re in luck. Most of the products are shoppable on Nestig.
