Who among us hasn’t faux-camped out at an IKEA store with their family, pretending the model rooms are part of our real house — that those are our personal effects dotting the BILLY bookcase and we really do sleep in the KURA bed? This Memorial Day Weekend, though, you can pretend-camp at IKEA in a different way. From May 23 through May 25, local IKEA stores are hosting the IKEA Summer Camp Event for families.

What Is IKEA Summer Camp?

Each day during the event, you can participate in several camp-themed activities (all within a giant air conditioned shopping destination — win, win, win!). For example, you can “take a hike” by following the IKEA store path to complete a scavenger hunt and collect a limited-edition patch, and snap a “camp-style” selfie. Kids ages 5 and up can visit a friendship bracelet-making station. You’ll also be able to sample IKEA meatballs and see a live outdoor entertaining design demo. You’ll get $10 off of every $100 spent in-store, and kids eat for free on May 25.

How to Sign Up for IKEA Summer Camp

Some of the free event’s activities and promotions require pre-registration with an IKEA.com IKEA Family login. It’s also important to note that the event will take place at many IKEA stores but not all, and vary at each participating store, so check your local store’s events page for more details and to RSVP.

Whether you’re looking for organized family activities during the long weekend, or would simply love an excuse to go shopping and keep your kids entertained while you’re at it, you may want to haul your tent family to IKEA.
