You Need to Stock Up on These Funfetti Baking Mixes ASAP
Dare I say it might be time to start thinking about your Elf on the Shelf plans for this year? Sure, Halloween is still around the corner, and Thanksgiving is just a blip on the horizon right now. But if you wait until the pumpkin muffins have been polished off, you’ll surely find yourself panicking about the prospect of plotting weeks of elf-centric shenanigans once again. (Plus, your kids are now another year older — which means they’ll be that much harder to trick.)
The good news is there’s a parent- and kid-approved treat coming back to grocery store shelves that might make your preparations a little bit sweeter this year.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Elf on the Shelf Christmas tradition, Pillsbury’s Funfetti baking line is rereleasing two baking mixes and two frosting options with an Elf on the Shelf spin.
The goodies include:
- Swirl Cake Mix, Red & White
- Marshmallow Swirl Fudge Brownie Mix
- Whipped Hot Cocoa Frosting
- Whipped Peppermint Vanilla Frosting
The cake mix can be used to make either 24 cupcakes (perfect for holiday parties) or one big cake topped with either the peppermint vanilla or hot cocoa whipped frostings, depending on what you’re craving. The brownies can be eaten plain or topped with frosting for an extra-decadent treat.
You can pick up these mixes now through December 2025 (although we’re still waiting for the brownie mix to show up online) in any seasonal or baking aisle nationwide. Each mix also comes with elf cutouts you can incorporate into your decorations.
Your Elf on the Shelf options are kind of endless here. Your elf can hide amid the eggs in your fridge as a clue that a fun baking project is on the way. You can position that pesky elf on top of cans of frosting tucked away in the back of the pantry. If you really want to commit to the bit, you can create elf footprints out of flour or sprinkles.

And, of course, once the baking is complete, you can dig into the brownie pan for a little treat and blame the crumbs on Scout the following day.
