The most-streamed show on television is here for real life: Bluey’s Best Day Ever at Disneyland Park takes everyone’s favorite Blue Heeler and her curious sister Bingo offscreen and puts them onstage. And as someone who’s watched more hours of Bluey than she cares to admit with her toddler, this new experience takes the beloved show and makes it feel brand-new by inviting kids (and adults) into Bluey’s colorful, imaginative world to play in a whole new way.

While Disneyland is already filled with kid-friendly attractions and experiences, Bluey’s Best Day Ever breaks the mold — I got to preview it with my son before the attraction officially opened on March 22. For toddler-, preschool-, and school-aged kids, this is a can’t-miss experience that allows them the space to play however they’d like — almost as if they were truly at school with Bluey for hands-on play, learning, and plenty of dancing.

What It’s Like to Step Inside the World of Bluey at Disneyland

Bluey’s Best Day Ever brings Bluey and Bingo to life for the very first time as characters inside Disneyland Park, and that’s undeniably one of the biggest draws. But it’s so much more than a character experience. Part stage show, part dance party, and part play space, this experience combines two different stage shows starring characters from Bluey — including favorites like Muffin, Indy, Snickers, and the famous Grannies — with additional spaces offstage that re-create a fairy garden and gnome village.

Before you even enter Fantasyland Theatre, Disneyland has transformed the space around its exterior to feel like a fair. You’ll spot larger-than-life items straight out of the show (yes, kids can touch them), have the chance to snap photos alongside Bluey and her classmates, and feel like you’ve been immersed in the episodes themselves thanks to the familiar soft colors and rounded cartoon-like shapes decorating the area. A combination of onstage characters, props (oh hi, Keepy Uppy balloons!), and some well-placed screens work together to create the show, which alternates between one high-energy performance and one slower-paced performance throughout the day. Onstage hijinks, lively music, and Bluey and Bingo dancing both onstage and on the dance floor with the audience makes it feel like one extra-fun school day.

Beyond the show itself, Bluey’s Best Day Ever also brings a host of Bluey-inspired offerings to Disneyland Park. Troubadour Tavern, the quick-service restaurant located right next to Fantasyland Theatre, is serving up an array of food items inspired by the show, including a “Pizza Girls”-inspired spin on the restaurant’s beloved baked potatoes, a Pavlova Parfait, and a Magic “Asparagus” Pretzel. Three shops throughout Disneyland Resort offer Bluey-themed merchandise, too (including plushes your kids will want to bring home).

How Bluey’s Best Day Ever Encourages Kids to Play

While the appearance of Bluey and Bingo in person is undeniably the biggest draw of Disneyland’s new Bluey-inspired show, it’s really so much more than a stage show — and as a parent, that’s what makes it such a stellar offering for families. Wiggly little ones don’t have to sit still. In fact, they’re encouraged to do exactly the opposite. It’s an environment tailored to kids’ big energy and love of movement, from the dance party happening right in front of the stage to the larger-than-life games performers play both onstage and on the dance floor with participants.

Simply put, this isn’t a show designed to watch sitting down. You certainly can take it in that way, but with its catchy soundtrack (tunes from the series are obviously part of the performances, so, parents, you’ll be ready!) and performers leading the way to teach kids dance moves and encourage them to get involved, it’s a chance to enjoy some imaginative, big body-inspired play right in the heart of Disneyland.

And if your kids aren’t too fond of dancing or are unsure they want to join in, Disney has provided alternatives. My 3-year-old son found Bluey and Bingo to be a bit overwhelming and the performance of the first show too loud, but he still spent more than an hour playing here. The Barky Boats, a boat-racing game pulled straight from the show; Bluey’s stump; and even the photo opps around the theater’s upper levels offer quieter escapes that are perfect for kids who like to play in different ways.

In many ways, Bluey’s Best Day Ever reminds me of what kids love about Mickey’s Toontown: It’s their space. They aren’t being asked to wait patiently, sit quietly, or follow rule after rule. In this experience, they can let their imaginations run wild right alongside Bluey and Bingo. There’s room to explore, and getting silly is highly encouraged (after all, Chattermax and Unicorse certainly will be doing so!).

Yes, it’s a little chaotic, just like Toontown; and when the bubbles come out or Bluey’s friends appear, it can feel a bit like you’re attending a preschooler rave. But even my hesitant child was ready to get down in the toddler fray when Granny Janet and Granny Rita appeared. It’s an experience that is perfectly tailored to young kids’ energy and love of different forms of play.

Bluey’s Best Day Ever Is Super Popular, so Be Prepared to Share

As you might expect, the new Bluey experience at Disneyland Park is incredibly popular, and guests have been clamoring to get inside Fantasyland Theatre to experience it. On the show’s opening day, crowds were so significant that the line for the show stretched all the way to Sleeping Beauty Castle — and components of the performances were ultimately modified a bit to accommodate the demand, including limiting some of the dancing, gameplay, and general run-and-touch experiences for kids.

But Bluey’s Best Day Ever deserves its hype. Parents and kids alike will adore the experience, from stage show to hands-on games. Kids have space to be kids, all while engaging with two of their favorite characters. And parents, trust me: The show will stop you in your tracks as you watch or play alongside them with its upbeat, downright enjoyable nature.
