I have three young kids who, like most kids, have an awful lot of energy. One of the keys to keeping them happy and helping them sleep well at night is finding constructive and fun ways for them to expend that energy day after day. (These Stapelstein stepping stones have been great!) I recently found another indoor play structure that helps them get that energy out on days we’re not able to get outside. It’s called the Walnut – 9-in-1 Swedish Ladder Wall Gym and Climber, and it’s essentially an indoor jungle gym.

Quick Overview

What’s so great about the Avenlur Walnut climbing wall?

The Avenlur Walnut is a climbing wall that includes a rock wall, a ladder, a rope wall, a slide, a swing, and more. Currently, my kids are 6, 2, and 2, and their favorite part of the wall is the climbing ladder and the slide.

Why I Love the Avenlur Swedish Ladder Wall Gym

The Avenlur is a climbing wall that includes a rock wall, a ladder, a rope wall, a slide, a swing, and more. Currently, my kids are 6, 2, and 2, and their favorite part of the wall is the climbing ladder and the slide. My 2-year-old boys even like using the slide as a ramp for their cars and trains. The slide attaches to the climbing wall, and it takes less than 30 seconds to take it on and off.

One of my favorite things about the climbing wall is that it spans all ages; my 2-year-olds play on it as does my 6-year-old, and it’s even strong enough to hold adults who want to use it for a pull-up bar and other forms of exercise. When other kids come over to play, the climbing wall is always an exciting toy that they gravitate toward.

I also like that it’s a gross motor toy that doesn’t take up a lot of space in my home. Because it attaches to the wall, it’s out of the way. To help create a safe space for my kids while they play on it, I put a Nugget Play Couch cushion on the floor at the bottom of the structure.

The wood is also very high-quality, and the structure is sturdy. My kids have been using it for about six months. There aren’t any chips taken out of the wood, and it’s as snug on the wall as it was the day I installed it.

Cons of the Avenlur Walnut

Assembling the structure isn’t for the faint of heart. It definitely took some time, but it was much easier when I had a second person there to help. To make sure it’s sturdy, you need to find studs in your wall to attach it to. You’ll also want to make sure your ceilings are high enough — the basement in my older home didn’t have a high enough ceiling. At 94.5 inches high, you’ll need a ceiling height of about 8 feet or more.

Would I get the Avenlur Walnut Again?

Given the chance, I would definitely choose the Avenlur Walnut set again for my kids. I know that it will last for years because of its sturdy construction and because of how it interests multiple age ranges. I can even see us keeping it installed in our playroom as a fitness structure even after my kids outgrow their toys.
