About Me

Cathy Gilbert lives in Central Illinois where she is a Professor of English at Heartland Community College and mother to twins. She also writes poetry, creative non-fiction, and other articles. She was awarded a sabbatical to conduct research by volunteering in the Fossil Lab of the George C. Page Museum in downtown Los Angeles. There, she cleaned and sorted fossils and microfossils from the La Brea Tar Pits. More recently she was teaching abroad in Seville, Spain when the pandemic hit. She explores these experiences and more in poems and essays.
