About Me
In third grade I wrote a short story about a dragon and my teacher read it to the class aloud. It was equal parts embarrassing and thrilling. Someone liked my writing!
Writing has been my passion ever since. I majored in English at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (where I grew up), then studied magazine writing and publishing at Northwestern University (where I experienced my first snowstorm). Since then I worked as a reporter for a daily newspaper for over 10 years, a food and dining editor at a city magazine, and the editor of a travel magazine for nearly a decade. I even wrote a children’s book! Full circle.
What I’ve discovered through my 25+ years of working as a journalist is that what I truly love is telling stories, whether that’s about surfing the frigid waves in Ireland or sharing the quickest way to declutter your home office.
When I’m not editing stories or researching life hacks, you can find me cooking and baking in my kitchen, tending to my garden, catching Pokemon with my son, chasing waves with my aquaculturist husband, or hanging out with my rescue kitten Eevee (aka Kitty) and dog Cruz.
