As parents, we’ve probably all wished for December 25th to be pushed back “just a few weeks” in a last-ditch effort to get all the shopping and yuletide preparation done. Our kids, on the other hand, cannot wait for the month to fly by. That’s why advent calendars come in clutch — to keep their anticipation for the holidays high and all of our respective stress levels low.

In 2021, though, the December-long tradition isn’t limited to kids popping sub-par chocolate medallions out of cardboard and plastic windows. Nope! The fun and festive options for families, these days, are a lot more magical and memorable than their simple milk chocolate-hiding predecessors. Don’t get us wrong, candy-filled calendars are still apropos in our book (and, for sure, our kids’), but to earn a spot on this coveted list, all the daily treats need to have some extra sparkle.
