The 5-Ingredient Salmon Dinner My Family Begs Me to Make Every Single Week
With two young kids at home, it’s hard to avoid a dinner rut. We tend to stick with chicken, beef, and pasta, because it’s “safe.” But recently, to my surprise, my 6-year old asked for salmon. Since our acclaimed Dinner Therapist, Kelli Foster, first published her recipe for the sauciest honey garlic salmon, I had been waiting for just the right moment to pull it out, and here was my chance. And wow, it totally delivered! Just like Kelli promises it takes only 20 minutes to make with five easy ingredients in one pan. The tender, flaky salmon was some of the best I’ve ever made at home — it was so flavorful — and I could honestly drink that sauce from a cup.
What Makes This Honey Garlic Salmon So Good
Between the minimal amount of time you’ll spend cooking to the handful of ingredients you’ll need, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another salmon dinner that’s as simple, easy, and flavorful as this. The recipe calls for just five ingredients (not including salt and olive oil), four out of five of which I already have in my pantry. Most times I make this for dinner, I’m really just running out to pick up salmon. It truly doesn’t get any better than this.
Why This Recipe Really Works
I’m a huge fan of Kelli’s recipes because they always deliver. Just like her other recipes, honey garlic salmon doesn’t skimp on flavor and is a cinch to make. All you have to do is whisk together the ingredients for the extra tasty sauce, sear the salmon in a hot skillet until golden brown, pour the sauce over everything, and let it simmer until thickened and the salmon is cooked through. Seriously, that’s it!
Tips for Making This Honey Garlic Salmon
- Double the sauce. This way you’ll have extra for drizzling over whatever you serve it with. You won’t regret it, it’s that good.
- Try it with another fish. I imagine this recipe will work just as well if you want to sub in another flaky, sturdy fish like arctic char or cod.
